2011 An Italian Adventure

The 2011 tour led by Pastors Bill Bailey and Don Trent in November began and ended in Rome, Italy. The group, made up of Kirk members and relatives, were able to view Venice from gondolas, statues of Michael Angelo and the majestic David in Florence, and walk on paving stones and marble plazas laid several centuries before Christ in the City of Pompeii. Other sites visited also included a chapel in the Vatican where a sculptor spent four pears painting the ceiling, and the Coliseum of Rome where gladiators and Christians lost their lives to wild beasts for entertainment.
Visiting the ancient Pompeii amphitheater were Anne and Elijah Bailey, the Rev. Bill Bailey, JoAnn Bowen, Ruth Richards, Jim and Debbie Cordell, Jean Fisher, E.J. Pangle, Lowell and Sharon Gardner, Mary Sue Greene, Marilyn Miller, Lon and Liz Hardin, Ellen Harkey, Carol Williams, Jane Harless, Linda Nicholson, James and Norma Hays, Dottie Isaacson, Sandra Larson, Gary and Carolyn Jacobs, Frederik and Barbara Kalsbeek, Tom and Judy King, Charles and Robin Morrison, Jean and Clark Mowry, Nancy Nogle, Eula Veeder, Ed and Suzanne Reinsch, Jason Treb, Jolene Gardner, Leroy and Jane Vance, the Rev. Don Trent, and Don and Helen Van Stone.

Being serenaded while their flotillas of gondolas were poled along the water “streets” of Venice was one highlight of the trip.
