Kirk Bids Farewell to First Pastor
Members
of the Kirk bid farewell May 17 to Pastor Emeritus, the Rev. Ernest
B. Smith, and his wife, Betty Jean, at a reception in their honor.

Rev. Smith became the Kirk’s first full-time called minister
July 15, 1982 and guided his rapidly growing congregation to organize
worship, educational and mission activities, and to build the church
sanctuary. He retired Dec. 31, 1987. He and Betty Jean continued
to be active church members.
The Smiths have now moved to be near their daughter and family in
Keller, Texas.
