New Members 2011

Roger and Molly Baldwin were recently welcomed into the Presbyterian Kirk in the Pines church family and their two children, Gary and Adele were baptized by the Reverend Bill Bailey (right) on Dec. 11. The Baldwins moved from Austin, Texas to be near his parents, Kirk members Ed and Becky Baldwin. They live on Mountain Pine Rd. where they own and operate a retail plant nursery, Clear Creek Gardener.

New Kirk members Rick and Jamie Federick retired to the Village in 2005 from Texas where they had attended Prestonwood Baptist Church in Dallas. After being invited to the Saturday Informal Service they were drawn to join the Kirk in June by “the graciousness and acceptance of the Kirk members as well as both pastors. We have found the Kirk to be the most caring church we have ever attended,” they said. The couple enjoys Parish Associate Don Trent’s Saturday sermons and often attend Sunday services to hear Pastor Bill Bailey

Ruth Richards and her husband Jack moved to the Village three years ago from Missouri after having lived in Houston, Texas, Bella Vista. Ruth, a native New Yorker, left the state after the blizzard of 1977 and moved to Houston where there was no snow. “At least most of the time,” she said. Jack passed away in 2009. Ruth joined the Kirk in June after attending the Saturday Informal Service and serves on the Fellowship Committee. “There’s a special fellowship here at the Kirk which I totally enjoy,” she said.

The Kirk Bell Choir was one of the many aspects influencing Diane and Orrin Schmidt’s decision to join the Kirk May 10. They came to Hot Springs Village from Juneau, Wisc., in December, 2010. Before their retirement Orrin worked for John Deere in Horicam, Wisc., for 30 years and Diane for 22 years. Orrin is also a carpenter and was a part-time homebuilder.
