About Presbyterian Kirk In The Pines

Ray Beal—Memorial Committee Moderator
A Methodist in his youth, Ray became a Presbyterian when he met and married his wife Mary in 1953. He was a member of Long Beach Presbyterian Church in Long Beach, Mississippi, where they lived for 28 years. Ray and Mary moved to the Village in 1986 and joined the Kirk when the church was just five years old. A retired entomologist with the U.S. Forest Service, Ray has been active in Village politics as a member of three different P.O.A. committees, including the Trails, Recreation, and currently the Natural Resources committees. He is an avid tennis player and referees at junior and college tournaments. The Beals have four children, eight grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

Memorial
The Memorial Committee oversees the Kirk’s memorial funds and the many resulting projects. Dedicated in 1996, the Memorial Garden continues to be a peaceful place for meditation and remembrance. A 9' 6" Celtic Cross was added to the Memorial Garden in the fall of 2005. The area around the cross has been landscaped and can now accommodate small weddings. This committee oversees its care and maintenance, as well as the interment process and records. A subcommittee, the Memorial Garden Beautification Group, encourages Kirk members to get involved with the beauty and care of the garden.
