Fink -
Evangelism Committee Moderator
Church activities have long been an important part of Sally Fink’s
life. Her activities in the Presbyterian Church began while growing
up in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Shortly after marrying her husband Tom, they moved to Baton Rouge,
La., where Tom worked for Exxon and Sally was executive director
of the United States Tennis Association in Louisiana.
They moved to the Village in 2000 and joined the Kirk shortly
thereafter.
Sally was moderator of Presbyterian Women in 2002-03; moderator
of the Christian Education Committee, 2006-09, and serves on the
Worship and Administration committees.
She volunteers in the Kirk office and is responsible for scheduling
other volunteers.
The Finks are co-leaders of Shepherd Group 9. They have two daughters
and three grand-daughters.
Evangelism
The South is known for its hospitality, and no one does Southern
hospitality better than the Kirk’s Evangelism Committee.
Everyone here was a stranger at one time—and we know that
visiting a new church for the first time can be a daunting experience.
It is our goal to help people feel welcome and at home, even on
their first visit. Visitors to the Kirk are greeted warmly as
they enter, asked to fill out a name tag, and invited to share
fellowship in Hoffius Hall at the coffee hour following each service.
The Evangelism Committee supports an informal worship service
on Saturday afternoon in Hoffius Hall for those who prefer a less
formal atmosphere and enjoy upbeat music and praise songs. We
also sponsor the Gardening…From Alpha to Omega workshops
that meet monthly on the fourth Thursday. The workshops are open
to everyone in the community who is interested in gardening.
We strive to provide opportunities for all members to be included
in the full life of the congregation. In a nutshell, we joyfully
share the good news of the sovereign love of God and encourage
active membership in the church and obedient service in the world.
