Communications
Dotty Rector, a “Cradle Presbyterian,” grew up in
Wisconsin. She graduated from Carroll University, a Presbyterian
school, and received her master’s degree at the University
of Wisconsin. She worked as a social worker, then a psychotherapist
in private practice before moving to Hot Springs Village in 1994
with her husband Gary. The Rectors joined the Kirk days after
their arrival.
Dotty was ordained an elder at Heritage Presbyterian Church and
served as elder at Southminster Presbyterian, both in Wisconsin.
She has served on the Kirk session as moderator of Congregational
Care. She became a member of Communication Committee in 2007 and
wrote a column entitled “New Territory.” Most recently
she retired as moderator of the Kirk’s Presbyterian Women.
The Rectors were avid sailors in Wisconsin, and now live on the
shore of Lake Coronado, where a pontoon boat has replaced the
sailboat. Dotty volunteers at Potter’s Clay and at Charitable
Christian Medical Clinic. She loves camping, reading, visiting
her children, traveling, and being outdoors.
Communication
The Kirk is blessed to have among its members a number of writers,
artists and photographers who volunteer their time and talent
to keep the community informed about what's going on at the
church. These talented folks send ads, press releases, articles
and photographs to the local newspapers, The Village Voice and
Hot Springs Sentinel Record, as well as setting policy and writing
articles for Kirk publications, designing posters and other
publicity materials and creating displays for the church's bulletin
boards.
A subcommittee comprised of members of the communication and
administration committees, direct and oversees the Kirk's web
site.
