Communications
Joyce Leeming, a native of Mississippi, attended a Baptist church
in her early years. At age 12 her family became members of the
Methodist church. She began attending a Presbyterian church while
at college and has been a Presbyterian ever since.
She
and her husband, Frank, were married in Paoli Presbyterian Church,
Paoli, Pa., and share five children and six grand-children.
They also lived in Kingsport, Tenn., and Friday Harbor, Wash.,
in the San Juan Islands before selling their island newspaper
and publishing businesses in 1992 and retiring to Hot Springs
Village.
The
Leemings became members of Presbyterian Kirk in the Pines in
2005. Joyce has served on the Fellowship Committee, Memorial
Reception Committee and on the Communications Committee.
She
was membership secretary for the Hot Springs Village Community
Foundation for seven years and helped found Friends of Small
Group Therapy, a support group for clients at a residential
care facility for adults with mental illness in Hot Springs.
Joyce
enjoys cooking, reading, volunteering at Small Group Therapy,
and above all, the warm fellowship at the Kirk.
Communication
The Kirk is blessed to have among its members a number of
writers, artists and photographers who volunteer their time
and talent to keep the community informed about what's going
on at the church. These talented folks send ads, press releases,
articles and photographs to the local newspapers, The Village
Voice and Hot Springs Sentinel Record, as well as setting
policy and writing articles for Kirk publications, designing
posters and other publicity materials and creating displays
for the church's bulletin boards.
A subcommittee comprised of members of the communication and
administration committees, direct and oversees the Kirk's
web site.
